Actually, the Chevrolet dealer from whom I bought the '86 Suburban
did  it.  He was a "trailer puller" (horses, I think) and set up
my new Suburban the way his was set up.  I thought it was a good
idea, so I installed the same type of setup in my '95 Dodge V-10.
(That's where I got stuck with the intermittent solenoid, which
burned out at an inopportune time <grin> and had to be replaced.
Another DIY job.)
Now, I have a 2000 Ford with factory wiring, and this thread has
reminded me to check the circuit for isolation, as soon as it gets
warm enough to work in my unheated garage.
