[VAC] Hello!

Hi. My name is Jim Delfel and my wife, Jan, and live in Eastern
Washington state. We have a 25', 1975 Airstream, which we've had for 6
years now. Our trailer was in wonderful condition when we bought it and
we have done our best to maintain it as time has passed.

Although we won't truly own a "Vintage" Airstream for a few more weeks
now, I've been lurking on the list for a couple of months. I've been
amazed with the friendliness of the list members and the quality of the
assistance provided. I read with great interest the threads on heating
systems, solar power, etc. I'm pretty much a mechanical moron, but I've
read things on the list which would give me the confidence to try a few
things.

A couple of things I'd like to inquire about:

- Our curtains are pretty well shot. We were directed to a James P.
Ambruso, Inc for replacement draperies. Has anyone had experience with
this company, and if so, what was your experience like?

- The exterior of our trailer is pretty much unblemished in terms of
dents or scratches, but the clearcoat is in need of removal and/or
replacement. I've seen other Airstreams which have been clearcoated
within the past couple of years, and quite frankly, don't look a whole
lot better than mine, with lots of orange-peel and a generally uneven
finish. I'd like to just remove the old clearcoat and then apply a good
wax a few times a year. Is this wise to consider? Is it something I can
tackle myself? If so, how? If not, what should I expect to pay a dealer
for this process?

Thank you in advance for your help.
