[A/S] Replacement of Antenna

I watch the posts on this group most every day, but have never had 
much to say.  It's a good group and, Hunter, you do a fine job.

Now I have some technical questions about going from an Airstream 
antenna to a batwing.

The Airstream antenna stuck in the "up" position in IL and it took a 
few whacks with a broom to get back on the road.  I think the sector 
gear must have broken.  Seems like the right time to put on a 
batwing.  I already have purchased a batwing.  I guess my questions 
are:  Has anybody had any luck pulling the coax through with the 
existing coax?  Or, if that would be a problem, could I just splice 
into it underneath the skin of the trailer?

I'm not into this project yet, so I don't know what kind of pitfalls 
I'm going to run into.  I have measured the distance and it looks 
like I might have 1/2 inch to spare on the vent shroud.  Anything you 
guys can tell me will be appreciated.
