Re: [A/S] water filters

The BEST under sink water filter is the Ever Pure RV filter. Besides
filtering out particulates, it has a very effective charcoal filtering
system in the replaceable cartridge (lots of surface area of activated
charcoal and a design which doesn't clog up prematurely, and relatively low
flow resistance).

Camping World sells them, and often has a discount on the replacement
cartridges.

Unlike most cartridge filters, this one is easy to change in the cramped
quarters under the sink. The cartridge has a bayonet mount (a half turn of
the large, easy to grasp retaining ring is all it takes) Also, the lever on
the top of the housing is a shut off valve, so you don't have the problem of
a restricting valve, and the dripping mess under the sink when you change
the filter cartridge.

Ever Pure is not cheap, but they are well known as one of the best water
filter makers for both residential and commercial use.

With the activated charcoal filtering, it will remove dissolved gases and
most of the sources of bad tasting water.

In addition, you can "super chlorinate" your fresh water tank (if you have
questionable water) by putting some chlorine bleach into the fresh water
tank. This will kill all sorts of bad bacteria, etc. Then, the charcoal
will remove the crud AND the chlorine, so you have good tasting, safe water.

This system is best set up with a separate drinking water faucet at the
galley sink.(which comes with the filter kit.)

As was also suggested, an external particulate filter in series with your
hose is an excellent idea to "pre-clean" the water going into your tank or
water system.

Also, be sure to use a "Potable Water" or food grade hose to connect to your
trailer or fill your water tank.
