You don't want grit getting into your system.  Thus a sediment filter 
before the outside connection would be the normal first step.  Some 
use a combination sediment / taste/ chemical cartridge.  If you are 
at a campground or park they should have water testing results 
available.  If at your own homesite, get the water tested.  You will 
need that for the house system anyway.  If you install a house system 
and you can run a line to the trailer and you would be set for now 
and later.  Doesn't it get cold in Montana....
