[A/S] Tale of woe and a question or three

Hello all. I usually lurk on this list, but I've got a couple of
questions today.

I own a 1972 27 foot International Overlander. A couple of weeks
ago, through no fault of my own, someone did a 360 spin down the side
of it. The preliminary estimate to repair so far is $8,728.00. This
is beyond my capabilities, so I'm going to take the settlement from
the insurance company and look for another Airstream.

Much to my surprise, I located a 1969 Globe Trotter practically in my
back yard. It's in very good shape, but it has no air conditioner.
If the seller and I can come to agreement on price, what can I expect
to pay for installation of an A/C unit? Was it Tuna that put an A/C
somewhere besides the roof in a Globe Trotter? Is this better than a
roof installation?

Somewhere in the future, I'd like to get a small generator to power
the A/C when I'm not in an actual campground. Since I'm starting
from scratch A/C wise with this little trailer, is there a small,
energy saving unit out there capable of running off a 2000 watt Honda
generator?

If I'm not mistaken, there is an Airstream dealer near Greensboro or
Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Has anyone dealt with them? What was
your experience? This is where I'd be most likely to go for
something like a roof air conditioner installation.

Thanks a bunch,
Mary Welch
