Mary - I live in Burlington and have used the
  A/S dealer Out of Doors Mart in Greensboro,
and have been satisfied.  They installed
a Carrier A/C for me about $800.00 including
rewiring and replacing the fuse block with
a new box with circuit breakers.

That was in May and so far so good.
