Re: [VAC] catalytic furnace

Rob,

My 31ft. is a rear bath model. The Cat. Platinum is mounted by the door and
only aims toward the front sofa. This is very adequate for the front of the
trailer........but not for the back bath area. If need be I supplement with
the forced air Suburban back there. Also, if you are in very cold areas you
will need that forced air furnace to circulate air around the holding tanks.
This is how they designed these units.

If you plan on being connected to shore power I would suggest a small ceramic
type of electric heater. This is what we mainly used in the bath area. It
worked out very well. Being able to move it around was nice as well. In my
rear bath model I don't really have what I feel is an adequate mounting place
for an Olympian catalytic heater. Since we mostly use this unit connected to
land power I've just used the small electric heater. Have been very pleased
with this set up. Even when it has been 10 degrees outside with strong winds.
The Cat heater and the little ceramic heated did most of the job with only
needing the forced air every now and then. Mainly to keep the tanks from
freezing up.
