When the anti freeze is pumped directly through the pump and into the
system it is used to push the water in the plumbing out and replace it
with pure anti freeze. RV anti freeze shrinks when it freezes.
Typically a dealer will blow as much water out of the plumbing from the
city water fill with an adapter and then pump anti freeze through the
pump and into the system allowing additional flow from the tap to ensure
the P traps are filled with anti freeze.
If I understand you correctly you are adding anti freeze to the fresh
water tank when it still has 15 or so gallons still in it. As you say
down in your part of Texas it works for you. No dealer up here in the
frigid North I have ever been acquainted with would either recommend or
do it that way. Not and guarantee the job against freeze up.
