Best bet is to unhook one side of the battery, and hook a small solar 
panel directly up to it. One of the little inexpensive panels made just 
for battery maintenance will suffice, and no charge control is needed 
for such a small panel.. Point the panel toward the sun, and it should 
provide enough juice to counteract the normal self-discharge of a lead 
acid battery. Or you could use a Battery Minder (a "smart" trickle 
charger) if you have power available.
