RE: [A/S] Keeping batteries charged

I have considered buying another Intelisync converter and Charge Wizard for
my garage so that I could take the battery out of my trailer and keep it
fully charged while my trailer is in storage. The Intelisync/Charge Wizard
seems to me to be an excellent way to maintain a full charge on one or more
batteries which are not in use.

I am particularly concerned about overcharging (and boiling off the
electrolyte) my "maintenance free" battery which does not have removable
caps to facilitate adding water to replace that boiled off by the battery
charger.

One must recognize that battery chargers are designed to bring a battery up
to an adequate charge level so the battery can function in a normal
application - which would also includes a way to recharge the battery. The
power converter, on the other hand, is designed to keep a battery at a full
charge, regardless of the power demands placed on it. The modern intelligent
converters also provide a short charge burst to prevent the battery from
stratifying, and the accompanying lower capacity charge associated with a
simple trickle charge.

The older trailers, like mine, had a two conductor plug to connect the
battery pigtail to the trailer's electrical system. Unfortunately this part
is no longer available. If someone knows where I can ge the mating
connector please e-mail me direcrt.

Thus, with another pair of cables with the quick connect, I could quickly
remove the battery from the trailer and then hook it up to my home
converter.
