Look in the glovebox for the code G80.  If it is there then you have an 
Eaton Locker.  Chevy did not offer a limited slip in the 2500hd.  My son's 
'90 1500 4X4 has a G80,  my wife's '95 Astrovan has a G80 and my '01 2500hd 
has a G80 in it.  If you go to the Eaton website it will explain how the 
unit operates.  My '92 Z71 4X4 had the standard open differential and I sure 
wished I had the G80, a Detroit Locker or a Detroit TrueTrac.
