[A/S] Installing Batwing antenna

Happy Canada Day Folks

The traditional bedspring antenna on my 74 International has lost some pieces
and is increasingly hard to put up and take down. (use of a come-along and
trailer brush on a stick--- I lied about the come-along) I did some teflon
spraying, but it is really hard to raise and lower.
I am thinking of installing a batwing, as I hear they are slightly more
powerful as far as reception is concerned. I have a satellite dish I set up
if we're going to be there more than one night, but would like the option of
pulling in local stations and a quick set up in the rain.
Has anyone installed a batwing ( I think you must, because I see lots of them
on Airstreams). Could you walk me through what you did. What parts of the
present winder and antenna base do I need to keep? etc

Thanks
