[A/S] Re: Installing Batwing antenna

Sarge,

I've never done it but read some information somewhere a while back
and will share what I remember.

One problem is that the old antennas have the twin lead wiring while
the batwing is coaxial. Supposedly, the easiest thing to do is
abandon the twin lead in place and run co-ax across the roof and down
in thru the refer vent, securing it as needed to keep it off the hot
coils.

I know the batwing has a built-in amplifier, but I don't know if it
needs a separate power lead or has one of those adapter connections
that send power up thru the antenna wire.

I have a '79 International with a well worn original antenna. Since
I may need to replace it later on, I'd like to hear back from you
after you've completed the project, for any tips you have. Please
post any photos of the job if you take any.
