I have posted a few pictures in the photo section, folder name Carrier.

Basically the ceiling mender provides for a curved surface up against the
ceiling with a flat surface to attach the inside mounting bracket and the
inside cover. I removed one of the big light fixtures and traced the curve
of the roof on a piece of paper. At this point you need to decide what
approach you want to take. If the inside mounting plate with the 4 long
bolts that attach to the outside unit are securely connected with the gasket
compressed to the proper level you can get by with just a spacer at each end
of the AC to cover the gap. You will probably need longer screws to hold the
ac cover on. However in my case when I tried to tighten the 4 bolts with the
mounting plate the end of the bolts were actually digging in to the outside
cover when I tightened them to the proper level to compress the gasket. So
my approach was to built  my ceiling mender. The curved side fits up against
the ceiling and then the mounting plate fits up against the flat side with
the 4 bolts holding all of this in place. I was able to tighten the bolts
and compress the gasket without a problem Then the inside AC cover fits
perfectly on the flat surface. I painted it a cream color to match  and it
looks like it came with the AC.

Now to build this I used various pieces of wood stock that I got from Home
Depot. The sides and ends are thin less than 1/4' "popular" wood stock. I
connected the two end pieces with 1 1/4" x 1/2 furring strips cut to the
length of the AC cover positioned on each side of the 14' opening. I also
attached two other piece to make for a 14' square opening. Then I covered
the flat portion with a piece of 1/4' plywood with the 14" opening cut out.
I don't have pictures of the this but could provide a drawing to illustrate.
