Re: [A/S] Ford F ?50 PSD LWB or SWB?
I currently tow with a 2004 F250 6.0 PSD, 4x4, super cab with long
bed, not dually.
Just got back from the Smoky Moutnains. Plenty of power when towing
a 1979 31' International. In fact, this truck will tow any Airstream
ever built.
The real difference with the F350 is just load capacity of the bed,
which won't factor in unless you plan to tow some monster 5th wheel
or haul an oversized slide-in camper.
The factory brake controller was not an option last year so I
installed a Prodigy brake controller. A factory wiring harness for a
brake contoller came with the truck and was easily spliced into the
Prodigy's wiring. There is a place to plug this in under the dash
for an easy install.
Total cost was really just the brake controller, which was slightly
over $100. Seems like a better way to go than the factory unit.
Cheaper, and you know you are getting something that is proven.
