From what I understand, Avion was very similar in design & fabrication to
Airstream so it stands to reason that their weights would also be similar.
The SOB's may sound easier to restore because they typically had very strong
chassis's and non structural bodies. The main problem with them is the wood
studs and joists in the walls and roofs. When they start to leak........and
they all do sooner or later, the wood structural elements rot out and leave
sagging steel or aluminum roofs and walls that are no where near straight. I
believe this is the main reason for their relatively low resale value. Some
of the vintage ones have a very strong following and look really cool, but
you have to strip it down to a skeleton in order to rebuild them properly.
