[A/S] Re: front sofa help!
Paul,
I couldn't see your full email address and using the Yahoo link for
email won't allow me any attachments. Therefore, I've posted some
information for you in the photos section.
Look for the album called "Sofa '79" and there you will find two
pages that I scanned from my service manual regarding the sofa.
While I have a '79, the sofa you described is the same as what I have
so this information should be of use to you.
If you read the directions for removal, it has you unscrew the whole
unit from the floor and pull it out in once piece, removing only the
cushions first. Installing one is the reverse. Just from my
experience working behind my sofa in the univolt compartment, I think
you'd be better off if you assembled all the pieces inside the
trailer in the approximate location, and put the backrest on last.
Then jockey it into the final position and screw it down.
If you did decide to assemble it outside and then bring it into the
trailer, you'll at least want to tie the folding backrest down so it
doesn't spring open suddenly and damage the interior.
The assembled frame probably isn't very heavy, but it is a big unit
to move into a small area, with little room for the people moving it
to maneuver.
