The reason for this is that the trailers you mentioned are not built 
using the same principles as an Airstream. They are built from the frame 
up with the aluminum skin added toward the end of construction to 
enclose it. Thus the frame is the primary load carrier.
Airstreams are built with the skin at the beginning as part of the 
overall structure. It's called semi-monoque construction. It allows for 
a lighter frame but a sturdier overall coach.
