It should be noted that the rear end separation problem seems unique to
Airstreams and particularly bad in rear bath versions of the 1970's
"Beatrice Years".  Avions, SilverStreaks, and Streamlines of the 50's, 60's
and 70's routinely carried rear bumper loads in the form of a spare and even
large luggage boxes with no apparent ill effects and with trailer weights
comparable or even lighter than the Airstreams of the period.
