[A/S] Polishing a vintage 1965

I need input from owners that have either polished their A/S, or 
have had it done by the pros.  A local shop told me he used a 3M 
product and NOT the Nuvite and Rolite that I have heard so much 
about.  A finished trailer that was on his lot was badly water 
spotted and the spots wouldn't readily rub clear.  Just wondering if 
3M is a good way to go?  I know that you get what you pay for.  This 
guy is MUCH lower priced in his polishing quotes.
