Darn, seems I missed out on your original rate about using rock salt in 
the black tank. I always enjoy a good rate. Being a retired Air Force 
CMS that never completely learned to keep his mouth shut I've been known 
to go off on one now and then. And I certainly understand where it comes 
from.

That being said the practice of salting a holding tank has been around 
far longer than the 30 + years I have been RVing. The idea was given to 
me first by another camper and since by others. Like you I wondered 
about the impact on a septic system. Given the sensitivity generated by 
Aqua Kem blue and it's small amount of formaldehyde I expected an 
awareness and concern for any similar inappropriate additives. Not once 
have I seen a sign forbidding it (as in the case of formaldehyde) nor 
has any park owner said no.
As such I have used it over the years and not had any problems with 
using chemicals afterwards.
So I agree to disagree.
