I try hard to not sound as if I am talking DOWN to people but the USArmy (from
which I am retired) always pitched its training to the 8th grade (GED)level.
Probably lower than that today <G>

anyway, if you put any chemicals in a black tank, you stop aerobic activity,
shoot, you stop all of it.  the idea is to prevent gas/odor.  however, that
biological activity is exothermic and thus, will generate enough heat, if you
drop a package of enzymes into the tank, to keep it above freezing...
Again, sufficient for Houston type climate.

and the point was, that well over 50% of RV trailer dumps are into septic tanks
in this country.  even those in small town parks where they allow RV parking.
like in Sheridan WY, etc.  These entities would love to catch people dumping
salted effluent into their septic tanks...  possibly award the winners with a
couple of months of hard time...<G>
