I don't know what the wheelbase is of the QX4, but I would think that 
anything over 110" for a 19' Bambi would be sufficient.  If the trailer 
started swaying suddenly and then went over three traffic lanes, 
something sudden happened, perhaps throwing on the trailer brakes alone 
would have brought the trailer back in line.  With that kind of 
whipping, there may be no tow vehicle which would have brought the 
trailer back under control.  This is definitely the type of experience 
which would turn one off on towing any trailer, glad you are OK and only 
property was damaged.
