Actually, it does not explain anything other than they moved the alternator 
to the flywheel on the engine and it is "multi-pole".  To produce power at 
300 RPM (actually it would have to be 450 RPM) the alternator would have to 
have 16 poles, quite a lot to cram in that small an area.   My dad has two 
of these little things, I think I'll pull one apart and see what truly 
makes it tick.  Basically you seem to be saying that there is no inverter 
involved.  Of course that would not surprise me in the least as I have a 
Panasonic Microwave that uses "inverter technology" to defrost.  Companies 
tend to use words way out of context.  If on the other hand it is truly an 
"Inverter" Generator, then it has to produce DC power and  "invert" it to AC.
