I think that you might want to consider a 20 amp thermal breaker 
instead of a fuse in the supply (B+) line to your controller.  In the 
event of a short, the fuse blows once and the controller is 
inoperative from then on, i.e., no trailer brakes. If you use a 
thermal breaker it will reset itself after an event like a short and 
may give you a bit of a chance of stopping the rig to look into the 
problem.  I think the Jordan instructions suggest this type of 
breaker.  It is installed under the hood with a direct wire to the B+ 
terminal of the battery connected to one side of the breaker and your 
supply wire to the controller connected to the other terminal. The 
controller B- wire can be connected to the battery negative terminal 
or to any convenient ground connection since they are all common to 
each other.

If these terms are foreign to you or you are unsure of the 
installation procedures, I would recommend visiting your local RV 
shop and have the thing professionally installed.  I suppose it would 
take about an hour and cost about $60.  Better to be sure about 
brakes than sorry.
