For straight fusing considerations, 20 amp requires #12 AWG, 30 amps requires #10.  
I'd go at least 1 size larger (#10 or #8 depending on fuse size) to minimize the 
voltage drop impact.  A volt of drop is 10 times as damaging to a 12 volt circuit as 
to a 120 volt circuit, 20 times as to a 240 volt circuit.  (All figures based on QDM 
(quick and dirty math))
