Patricia,

We recently sprang for a Coleman 12 volt Peltier effect cooler.  About 
80 bucks at WalMart.  Came with a 120 volt AC adapter.  We load it up 
and pre-cool in the house before a trip, and plug in to
the trailer's 12 volts on the road.  Best (of many) investment we've 
made in the trailer yet.  When we land at our destination we fire up the 
fridge in the Tinsel Tubesteak and with everything
already cold (including the frozen soda bottles of our own well water) 
the Dometic in the trailer is cold within an hour or so.  I happen to be 
of the gas tanks off while on the road persuasion,
myself.
