Just to check on my sanity I went to my manual to reread their 
recommendations. On page 4-30 mine says, (as copied directly) You should use 
DRIVE (D) (or, as you need to, a lower gear) when towing a trailer. Operating 
your vehicle in DRIVE (D) when towing a trailer will minimize heat buildup 
and extend the life of your transmission.
My shift indicator has 1,2,3,D. I can tell 4 distinct shifts in D, not 
counting the torque converter lock up. There is nothing indicating that the 
4th shift is overdrive or that putting the shift lever in D there will be 
overdrive. But assuming 4th is overdrive. D is D and 3rd is a lower gear, so 
is it telling to use overdrive? Give me your manual it is easier to 
understand. I have asked the dealer about this and got the same confusing 
answer.
