Jack,
 You have a 2500 model, or a 3/4-ton truck. GM uses a different
transmission in the 1/2 and 3/4-ton trucks, and it's OK to tow in OD
with the 3/4-ton outfits. It is NOT OK to tow in OD with the 1/2-ton
trucks.

It's the same thing with the Dodge transmissions: the manual for the
1/2-ton trucks says to always lock out the OD and tow in Direct, the
manual for the 3/4-ton trucks says to tow in OD.
