 There have been many discussions here and on the VAC list in the past
about the advisability of running the fridge (on gas) while travelling:

Some folks simply turn it on and forget it. The food stays cold, ice
cream frozen, etc. Most folks in this group DO shut down the fridge when
fueling the tow vehicle in case of gasoline fumes getting into the
fridge vent and causing a disaster at the pumps.

Others believe that it's safer to shut off the gas at the tanks in case
of any kind of a leak or accident. They find that the fridge will stay
cold enough for long enough as long as they don't open the door; they're
usually travelling for only 5 hours or so anyway. If the fridge is
'off', you needn't worry about running it out of level and ruining it.
(if you're stopped for more than 1/2 hour, the fridge should be level if
it's running. If you're going down the road, it doesn't matter)
