Hi Jim,

The refrigerator in my Safari is AC/LP.  When I removed the refrigerator, I
was surprised to find four wires neatly hanging from inside the vent that
goes to the roof.  These are red/green/black/blue if I remember correctly.
The wires are about 18 gauge.  I had thoughts that these wires were intended
for the 12 volt operation of a refrigerator.  However, your thought about 8
amperes wouldn't support my thought.

I was able to determine that the ammonia/hydrogen refrigeration system takes
very little heat to make it very efficient.  The panel on my unit says 2
amps at 110 volts AC.  Like a 150 watt light bulb only when cooling is
called for by the thermostat.  Seems like a DC heater strip wouldn't demand
such a heavy load??

Is there a DC ampere rating on a three way refrigerator that might help with
the trouble shooting?

BTW, a continuity check across the AC plug with the thermostat set on a
level of about 4 should show a moderate resistance.  I'm not an electrician
or engineer so I'm usually in the dark about these things.
