Hi Daisy, and others on this thread,
I have found that using automotive interior repaint, (what you would use if
customising a car interior) works really well on these endcaps. There is a
cleaner, primer, paint and  finish coat, bonds to the plastic as if it were
part of it, and is very durable.
Should find it in any good auto accessory shop.
