That would be my guess.  You can buy a deluxe new SOB with a slide out for 
half the price ...less than half the price of an new Airstream.

A new 30 foot A/S is in the $50,000.00 range... a new Fleetwood the same 
size, with a huge slide out...and lots of tacky gold trim is what?  $22,000?  
 So what if it has cheap fabric on the couch and cheap carpet.....   
A lot more Chevys are sold than Rolls Royces.... we have the Rolls Royces of 
travel trailers.

I imagine the most new Airstreams are sold in affluent locations... 

Personally, I wouldn't want anything but a new Airstream.... used I like 
Airstreams, Avions (pre Fleetwood) Silver Streaks and Streamlines.

It must be hard for dealers to lay out big bucks to have Airstreams spending 
a lot of time on their lots, collecting dust,  until a Rolls buyer comes 
along.
