Toby, Starting in 1961 Airstream went from an axle with leaf springs to one without. These newer ones have rubber inside them that deterioriates over time. You have one of the older style axles, and do not need to worry about replacement. When the time comes (if it comes) it will be VERY clear! Scott '60 Overlander
