[A/S] 1960 Tradewind axle/brakes etc.

So, I'm into the running gear restoration.

bought new wheels and tires <check>
replaced the brake pads <check>
repainted brake drums <check>
greased the bearings <check>

Jim Dunmeyer - you said something about axles commonly
need to be replaced on models (as old as 1968) So I'm
wondering - there's been a lot of talk about Henschen
and various other axles, how do I identify the *make*
of my axle?  What kinds of things *determine* the need
for a new axle?  If it's rolling good, is the axle
good?  I don't want to bother sandblasting and
painting an axle that needs to be replaced.

Anyone?
