Re: [a/s] Ford Explorer Tires
Well, I heard that too, but I have been unable to see it in print anywhere. Do
you have a source for the "the replacement tires are bad also" part? If as you
say, it was on the news, was it a quote from a guy in a tire shop, a Ralph Nader
type, an industry spokesman, a Goodyear rep, a field reporter or an anchor. I
tend to filter my perception of truth based on who it comes from.
I have some of the 'bad' tires and have had problems with them in the past. The
current set, which I have never kept under inflated at the Ford recommended
26psi, have approximately 40k miles and they are singing due to being out of
round and having some uneven wear despite fairly regular rotations. I was on my
way to the tire store to buy some Michelins when I heard the Firestone
announcement on the radio. So Bridgestone says they will give me a new set free.
Hmmmm, let me see - 5 new Bridgestones for $0.00 or Michelins for $500+. So I am
interested in the source of "the replacement tires are bad also."
