A report I heard or read on the news service was that, if you don't want
Brigdestone/Firestone tires, the company will pay for comparable tires
from another manufacturer.  My guess is that this option will entail a
hell of a lot more paperwork and aggravation than getting Firestone
replacements.  It is bad enough that they are "phasing in" the recall in
different parts of the country.  New England is later than the southwest
and west.  I guess they figured how many would die in each area and
decided the casualties in New England would be fewer and their liability
would be less.
