I had one of those models in an old Dodge camper on Maui.  It worked great 
but really used up 12 volts.  Had to plug into a charger every other day 
with two batts.
I think you may be right about running the unit with propane instead of 
electrical.  Will give it a test.

I have one of those but it doesn't do nachos.  I now keep it in the Ford 
Campervan and currently use a small electric toaster oven.  Propane would 
be the ideal fuel to create a top broiler.  Thats what they use in all the 
restaurants.  Maybe that's where I could check.

Thanks Susi & John for the ideas.  I am certain that out there
somewhere are a lot more good ideas on conservative appliances that will 
work well in a Solar System :)
