Yes, I don't think it's intended to be operated on 12 volts except when you are
going down the road and drawing direct from the alternator.  You are powering a
heating coil to boil the liquid in the absorption fridge, and that takes a lot
of current.

Even if it has electronic controls I would expect the current draw to be
minimal.  The propane consumption doesn't amount to much either, you can run for
weeks on one filling.

I've never looked into it because the full-size propane range in my MH also has
a full-size oven with a broiler underneath!  So I never needed anything else.
