The venting phenomenon I have been talking about is exhibited by tanks that are filled to the
correct level at cooler temperatures and then vent when the container temperature rises due to
ambient and sun loading. LP tanks with or without OPD valves have done this. The cause is a build
up of vapor pressure not liquid expansion. This a fairly common event in this are as our night
temperatures are often in the mid 50's with the following daytime temperatures in the 90's. In
order for liquid to reach the relief valve, which is located in the service valve at the top of
the container it would have to expand by 25% of its initial volume. In the example I am referring
to I know the tanks are correctly filled as I have done them myself, as I have done for nearly 9
years.
