With that hitch, I don't think there is any other way... One of the pins has
to come out and the chains have to be dropped... Maybe a pin with a ring on
the end and a special pry bar to hook the ring and lever the thing out...If
the truck and trailer are near level, the pin should come out... If in the
middle of a long hill, that's another matter...Might have to pull the
breakaway brake safety cable and ease the truck  back to get the pressure
off the pin... Not all that simple with a bunch of other stuff going on...

Like you say, it would be good to have the procedure down pat before needing
to implement it...Having good sized fire extinguishers handy and having good
rear view mirrors that can give you a view down each side of the trailer
makes a lot of sense to me... I noticed that with the older (narrower)
Airstreams like I have the view down the side is pretty good....I also
noticed I can look through the front and back windows and see the traffic
behind the trailer....I think I could see smoke from tires etc... Should I
be looking for anything else???

I have been thinking we need one of those smoked plastic rock guards for the
front window but then I lose that view through the trailer....Maybe clear
lexan would be better.??
