	I will agree and disagree with the other responses to this question. The
Univolt used in a '75 (and still in '00, AFAIK) is a Ferroresonant
converter. One characteristic of this type of converter is the hum- you
just can not get rid of it. You may be able to muffle it, but you have to
be carefull not to restrict the ventalation.
	In our '75, the Univolt was under the kitchen counter (we had a 31',
center bath, rear double bed). We just got used to the sound (an aside- now
we live across the highway from an electric company sub-station.. constant
60 cycle hum..)

	Another characteristic of the Univolt is that **it will not overcharge a
good battery**. I need to say that again..
	The battery will need maintenance- you need to check the water monthly-
but unless the battery is bad, or the Univolt is bad (very rare), it just
will not over charge.

	If you just cannot live with the noise, then I like the "Progressive
Dynamics" 9100 series converters- with the "charge wizard" add-on. It is an
electronic "switching" converter that treats the battery better than *any*
under $200 battery charger, and is dead quiet.
	But.. it isn't nearly as bullet proof as the original Univolt.

	Another thought- you could just put a switch on the Univolt to turn it off
at night- something the previous owners of our present trailer (a '78 28')
did.
