I use a CB occassionally but I would argue that a simple 2mFM handitalkie
is much more effective for obtaining assistance, reporting problems, etc
if one does not have cellular. Without a doubt, it is far cheaper.
Installing and understanding 2mFM requires very minor effort.
Additionally, one can use the amrad both in the car goind down the hwy
and at camp, in the rv with almost no problem in changing location of the
radio.
Perhpas this would be a good time to refer everyone without an FCC
license in amateur radio that the ARRL website provides at least
rudimentary instructions as to how to enter the wonderful world of ham
radio. Or, just contact any ham you see or hear for info.
