[a/s] overdrive
Here is what I have been told about overdrive. One school of thought is
that when pulling a trailer don't use it. I've also been told that when
driving on a lot of hilly roads one should not use overdrive.
The other school of thought is that if one travels on a level highway (no
hills) it is ok to go into overdrive once up to speed.
I have found with my Crown Vic that it does a better job of pulling my 29'
Excella when not in overdrive. Even when not in overdrive I recently
averaged about 13 mph and that includes traveling over the mountains going
into California and out and traveling over the mountains in northern Arizona
and New Mexico including crossing the continental divide. I did my best to
keep car speed between 55 and 60 mph, although I admit to having gone as
high as 70 mph on rare occasions.
Sincerely,
Pete
