Re: [VACList] Frame rust

One more trip to the hardware store...got an assortment of wire brushes
that fit my electric drill. Hopefully since some of them are pretty
small, I will be able to get into the inside of the "box" with them -
or maybe I have a C frame. The metal is shaped like a letter U but not
rounded off - square corners. It would need another side to be
enclosed. So what's that? It's 2" on a side and one cross member is
going to be replaced because it rusted to the extent that it has
deformed.
Whole new question. The side wall has a piece of metal on the bottom
to which the wooden floor is attached by metal screws. Then of
course, the floor is bolted to the frame and it all hangs together
except there is corrosion of the aluminum sheets that make up the
inside walls - not a lot but I want to clean that off and be sure to
isolate the al walls from the steel frame when the new floor goes in. I
now am using the wood shims under that metal edge and atop the frame in
the areas where the floor has been removed and that seems to be working
quite well. How should that interface of the al wall and the
floor/frame metal be handled?
