Jim,

Airstream only used the bug guards with the plastic backing in 1969. From 70 to
this day they simply glue the stuff to the frame the same way your screen
frames are now. Takes about 4' per window, 2' on each side and they are held in
place with contact cement.
Andy at Inland RV has new built 69 bug guard illustrated on his site.
