[VAC] Re: Tekonsha Brake Controllers

So long as we are in quest of pressure control the Jordan controller is
based on pedal position which depends on the exact boost from the vacuum
brake booster, and the precise wear and wobble of the brake disks the
temperature of the brake fluid, the last time the rear brakes were
adjusted, and a little on pressure. Its probably better than a pendulum
but I don't think can meet the goal we search for.

Most self adjusting drum brakes only adjust when there's a strong brake
application in reverse. I don't find a place to do that living on a flat
gravel road, I generally can stop backing by pushing in the clutch. And
one tends to not stop violently while backing a trailer on a trip, so
the rear drum brake clearances increase with time causing the pedal
travel to increase with time. Drum brakes are spring loaded to retract
the shoes to the stops so as the lining wear the travel distance, hence
hydraulic fluid require, hence pedal travel increases. Disk brakes are
not retracted except by the slight wobble of the disk that taps the pads
back to not drag most of the revolution. That's why disk and drum brakes
have separate hydraulic systems, there's more fluid used in the drum
brakes than the disk brakes, probably. And its more variable with time.

I did find a web page last year, try a search on +"Jordan Research"
