[VAC] Zolatone Paint

The finish our roof vent installation I had to fabricate a couple of
aluminum interior trim pieces for the opening, as two were damaged when
the vent was removed by the previous owner. I bent the new pieces from
sheet aluminum and snipped in the proper angles and cut-outs. The
original 4 L angle pieces were painted the same color as the interior
trim, the textured Zolatone paint.

Off I went to the automotive paint store and bought a color Zolatone
calls "Chamille White". I've got to admit it is the easiest and fastest
applying paint I've ever used. The results are fantastic and look like
the original. Zolatone sells a little $12 reusable spray applicator for
small areas. I first painted the base color with spray enamel (Taupe,
in this case), and then added the Zolatone finish. The color is
slightly different than the original, so it probably couldn't be used
to touch-up bad walls, they would have to be sprayed whole. I plan to
paint all the window openers, latches, and screen frames - parts that
can be removed and then re-installed.

Old Wally used some good stuff back then. Anyone know when the textured
paint started being used, and when it stopped? Also, were there
different colors over the years?
