There have been discussions about this heretofore on this list. Those 
who are by nature cautious say NEVER DO IT. Others of us are a bit more 
open minded about the matter. I, for one, do it all the time. I ALWAYS 
run on gas and ALWAYS leave it on. No problems for 50 years... so far. FWIW.

When a fridge is run on 12-volts it REALLY sucks up the juice. However, 
if you only leave it on 12-volts while towing, that shouldn't be a 
problem if your charge line to the trailer is hooked up correctly. 
Absorption  reefers are not efficient when run on electricity, either 
12-volts or 110-volts. They like gas.
